Eco-Connector: A Net-Zero Building Design

This Net-Zero energy building was designed by Kyle Young, Graduate Student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the DOW Design-to-Zero Competition 2011.

Net-Zero Technology

This design incorporates many active and passive energy techniques in order to maximize energy extraction from the local environment. Wind, Solar, Water are harvested through a Central Thermal Core which collects and distributes the energy to specified locations based on occupancy of the building.

 

Using recycled and local materials along with choosing a site that promotes non-carbon modes of transportation all contibute to the buildings impact on the environment. Alternative waste management  and recylcing help battle the disposable consumption we are acustomed to.  More about ECO Technology...
